Istanbul 2004: A Pillar of National and Regional Economy

Istanbul is a commercial capital. Its influence no longer derives from imperial trappings or political power. It leads by example, from what it can achieve and contributes to a broader region.

What Istanbul makes now competes easily on the same terms with those made in Brussels, London, etc.

Being a large metropolis with 10 million+ inhabitants, Istanbul's economical, cultural, and social leadership plays a very important role throughout the region.
