Istanbul 2004: A City Used to Welcoming the World

Istanbul enjoys the position of being the first city in the world to have given shelter to one million inhabitants. These days it attracts 4.5 million visitors a year. Many come back for a second and third visit. The reason of their return is the unaffected hospitality of the people of Istanbul, the capital city of the region: economically strong, culturally enlightening and playing a more important role with each passing day. It is an Olympist City that takes a natural joy in welcoming the different people of the world.
