Istanbul is an ancient city with a very young population, using a language that needs no translation: sports. The first sports clubs of Istanbul were established early in this century and were open to men and women of every ethnic background without a thought of discrimination. With the passing of time, catering to the aspirations of its youth has acquired a new urgency. By its candidacy, Istanbul is also declaring that it has both the will and resources to make sports an even greater priority.
