Istanbul 2004: The Only City to Possess an Olympic Law with Iron-Clad Guarantees

The Parliament of Turkey has responded to the enthusiasm of the youth for the Games by enacting the only Olympic Law in the world which guarantees the full cost of staging the games, sets aside fixed sources of revenues for facilities as well as giving the IOC Charter the force of law in matters relating to Olympics. The Turkish Olympic Law also provides for a tripartite cooperation between the state, municipality and the NOC, thus making the bid irrevocably immune to government changes.
