Mission Statement

We shall strive to illuminate the unique parallels between the values of Sweden and the values of the Olympic Movement.

In doing so, we shall showcase our great traditions of peace, sport, potential stability, social equality and personal integrity - and the strengths of our advanced technological infrastructure, existing facilities and organizational expertise - to demonstrate that Stockholm, with its world-record weather and environmental achievements, is the superior host site for the Games of the XXVII Olympiad.

In bidding for the right to host the 2004 Olympic Games, we shall remain true to our national character, treat the Olympic Games, a property of the IOC, with the honor and respect they deserve, and seek to create a legacy of light and organizational brilliance that will enhance the value of the Games for the future.
